My colleagues gave Don and myself a birthday lunch, pie and all. Thanks, guys.
I now own a Samyang 8mm f/3.5 fish-eye lens. Quite unusual, really. Should make for some fun experimenting.
The old ones, seen at the bottom here, were in dire need of being replaced. The top layer was breaking off, leaving specs of black all over my face whenever I wore these headphones. Quite irritating. The replacements pads are from Singapore and, as far as I can tell, not official. They do, however, fit quite nicely.
They’re quite soft, though the originals feel softer. I think this is more due to the age of the pads though. They’re comfortable to wear (I’ve been wearing them for several hours now, and am not bothered by them) and look pretty much as they should. The headphones almost look like new again.
I’m still waiting for my replacement headband (coming in from China, a generic one as I couldn’t find one specifically for this headphone), after which these cans should be all ready again for use as my main office headphones.
These days I seem to have no time for photography or anything outside of work. It’s how it is just before big deadlines, I guess. I miss making photos, though.
I sold my Thunderpants headphones the other day. I had been thinking about it for a while, and decided to just go for it when a good enough offer came along. This, interestingly enough, is the first time I sold a gadget not to replace it with another or due to financial difficulties, but just to sell it. I loved it every day I used it, even though it wasn’t perfectly my style, but I know that there is something better out there.
That’s for later, though. For now I’ll revamp my trusty old Sennheiser HD380 Pros. I purchased replacement pads and a generic headband to replace the damaged ones (flecks of black stuff keeps falling off of these pleather pads, covering my face in it. Very irritating). Until I get the pads, however, I’m using my in-ear earphones to get by. Sitting in an office all day without music is awful, really.

One of the first photos taken with my “new” Nikon D80. Liking the sharpness I can get with this camera and my manual lenses, this is much better than I could get with the Canon one (mostly due to the lens adapter used, I think). This photo was taking directly into the sunlight, and I didn’t tinker with it afterwards. Kind of liked the result, dramatic as it is.
For those interested, this photo was taken with a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 set at f8, ISO100, shutter speed set at 1/4000th. Geek, out.
The view from my office can be truly amazing. Many a time I can be found on the balcony around Golden hour, which might explain my recent burst in cloud photos.
Made with Canon 400d and Nikon 300mm lens, and some minor touching up in Lightroom.
